Facility Management
Facility Management
Facility management refers to the comprehensive coordination of buildings, infrastructure, and supporting services to ensure that workplaces, public facilities, and residential complexes operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently. It combines strategic planning with day-to-day operational oversight, connecting people, processes, and physical environments.
Core Functions
Facility management typically covers two major categories: hard services and soft services.
Hard services relate to the physical structure of a building. These include HVAC systems, electrical networks, plumbing, fire safety systems, elevators, structural maintenance, and energy management. The goal is to maintain the integrity, safety, and performance of the built environment.
Soft services focus on the daily support activities that enhance comfort and usability. These include cleaning, landscaping, waste management, security, reception, catering, and workspace management. Soft services help create a functional and pleasant environment for employees, visitors, and residents.
